SOUTH LINCOLN LIBRARY CHECK OUT PROCEDURES

K-1
Kindergarten and 1st grade may have 1 book checked out at a time, unless special arrangements are made with teacher.
Kindergarten check outs will begin checking out books after fall break.

2-8
Grades 2-8 may have 2 books checked out at a time.
A child may NOT have more than 2 books checked out at a time. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Lost or missing books
If 2 books are checked out and 1 or BOTH are late, no books may be checked out until books are returned.
If 1 book is checked out but not late, 1 book can be checked out.

If a child disputes a lost book, the librarian will suspend check out privileges until the child’s next check out time. In the meantime, the library will be searched for the lost book.

If the missing book is found, it will be properly checked in and the child’s record clear for check outs.
If the book is not found or returned, the student will be given a parent letter requesting that the lost book is paid for and stating that the child will not be allowed to borrow books from the library until either the book is returned or paid for.

If a lost book is not returned or paid for within 2 weeks of the parent letter, Mrs. Hilary will consult Mrs. Turpen. Progress reports and report cards may be held if book debts are not taken care of prior to report card or progress report distribution.

Students who habitually turn in late or damaged books may have check out privileges modified or taken away completely.
