My name is Hilary Hardin, and I am so excited to be the Library Media Specialist at South Lincoln School. I have said many times that I have the BEST job in the world, and I stand by that statement. I love reading to kids and encouraging them to find books they love as well. But a library isn't just about cultivating a love of reading, it's about many other things too. In this library we explore art, science, technology, and all sorts of interesting subjects.
I am married to Richard Hardin, a local builder, and we have 3 children. Reid, Hadley, and Annie all attended or are still attending school here. And don't let them tell you they don't love being at school with their mama because they do, of course. We have a Boxer named Lottie, a pug named Nellie, and 2 Boston Terriers named Uncle Pokey and Cornelius. I'm still trying to convince Mrs. Turpen to let me bring them to work every day. You would love them. I have lived in Lincoln County my entire life expect for when I lived in Chattanooga and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary English Education. I have taught 7th, 8th, and 9th grade English until I was offered a job as the librarian at the Lincoln County Ninth Grade Academy in 2010. I worked as a part time English teacher and part time librarian there while earning my Masters in Library Media from the University of West Alabama.
I have been at South Lincoln now for 5 years, and I absolutely love working with younger students just as much as I did with older ones. I feel so blessed that I get to come to SL and be your or your child's librarian every day.
