The Lincoln County School System has announced that Hannah Posey has been named the new principal of South Lincoln School. She succeeds Matt Scott, who will be taking on a new role as principal of Whitesburg Christian Academy in Huntsville.
Posey brings 18 years of experience in education to her new position. She began her career as an English teacher at Lincoln County High School, where she served for 13 years. Most recently, she has spent the past five years as an assistant principal at Giles County High School.
She earned her associate’s degree from Motlow State Community College before completing a bachelor’s degree at Athens State University. She went on to earn a master’s in educational leadership from Carson-Newman University and later completed a specialist’s degree through a fellowship program at Lipscomb University.
Posey and her husband, Kevin, a former member of the Lincoln County Board of Education, have four children who are all part of the Lincoln County School System.
“It is an honor to return home to the county that gave me my start as a teacher,” Posey said. “I’m excited to serve the students, families, and staff at South Lincoln and to continue building on the school’s strong foundation.” Jacob Sorrells, Director of Schools, stated, “we are pleased to welcome Mrs. Posey to South Lincoln. Her experience and connection to our community make her a great addition to the school.” Mrs. Posey will begin work July 1st.
